Chinese porcelain tiles on the floor, Paradesi Synagogue, Cochin (January 2004). I'm thinking about journeys, next steps, where my feet will be taking me in the coming season.
oh god! This brings back so many memories! I haven't been to Cochin in eons but there was a time we used to drive there every second week or so - it was four hours from Calicut and I remember we used to get up at some awful time in the morning, usually 4 am, so my dad could be there in time for his meetings.
That synagogue also had these huge tablets with the ten commandments written on them lying around in the compund somewhere...

yes, and blue shutters on the windows and chandeliers with glass cups that reminded me of the ones in Sultanahmet Camii.
I loved Cochin, and while I won't be able to go back to Kerala this winter, I'm determined to return someday.
