burma update

We are getting very bad eyewitness news from inside the country now—there were raids on the monasteries overnight, and live ammunition fired into crowds of demonstrators today. A number of people have been killed, and many more arrested and injured.
News and photos/videos can be found here:
Ko-Htike (Burmese blog with some English posts and lots of images)
Irrawaddy (online news site-- down earlier today but seems to be up again now)
BurmaNet (news aggregation on Burma)
The BBC is also posting eyewitness reports here. There are not many foreign journalists in the country, but there are cell phone and camera phones, especially in Yangon.
Update: this YouTube poster has a lot of video from the demonstrations, including this clip from near Sule Pagoda today (which ends after troops start firing at the protestors--whether into or above the crowd is unclear). Note that most of the crowd are not monks and nuns--apparently more than 700 monks were arrested overnight, and others are going into the streets to take their place.
