about that arabic homework

أنا إسمي اليزابث

أنا من أمريكا

أنا أسكن في بروكلين

أنا أدرس أللغة العربية في جامعة نويورك

I won't say how long it took to type this, and I'm sure there are errors, but I am feeling immoderately pleased with myself. I can read and write!

Never doubted your ability to read and write (and even understand :) ) Arabic, but I too, am impressed by the clarity of this software ... it's practically calligraphy.

Hello!
You commented on my anonymous blog. I'd found your blog from the comment on Contrapuntal a few days ago and swallowed up your full archives with great pleasure. Thanks for the Sontag link. Can't find an e-mail address, mine's in my Blogger profile. And I'm trying not to sound so stalker-like :)

lyra: shukran, habibti!

laila and dear S: I used this internet arabic keyboard, of all things:

http://www.islamweb.net/php/php_arabic/keyboard/keyboard.htm

and simply cut and pasted into blogger. had no idea it would come out so beautifully. it's certainly an improvement on my wretched arabic handwriting.

nakul: many thanks, and will be in touch--via a third person I find we have even more in common than i thought.
