i hate craigslist right now

I'm presently trapped in that special hell known as New York apartment-hunting. See this article for a good sense of the fun & games involved (I actually did view a room last week with a lovely close-up view of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway from the bedroom window, as well as others lacking windows, closets, and other basic attributes, plus several listed with very, um, creative definitions of the boundaries of the neighborhood in question) and this one on the "housing virgins" of Manhattan. Thankfully, I'm staying in Brooklyn--but the neighborhoods I want to live in are still pretty vicious, in terms of prices and low vacancy rates. I may have found a place--ridiculously expensive, but so lovely that it's good value for the money--but it's not confirmed yet. Either I'll be homeless in a few days (God, no more couch-surfing this year, please) or I'll be at IKEA buying a whole lot of bookshelves.
