I haven't had internet access at home, and my time online has been mostly spent reading the news in complusive despair, or trying to make contact with people. But I have been writing these little posts on my laptop at home for the last week or two, and am going to start retroactively posting them later today, below this one. I am still overwhelmed by teaching work--it is the last week of the program--and the only comfort in all of this is the work I am doing with the students, these handfuls of young Americans who will go back knowing something about the world, who will have some small shred of knowledge and ability to think critically about Palestine, Iraq, the 'war on terror,' and now, the destruction of Lebanon.
