the axis of shame

I'm even more furious at the news that my government is planning to stop this, but not for another week--as far as I can tell the official diplomatic position of the United States is basically "Oh, we'll step in, we'll calm things down, but let's give Israel another week or so to bomb the hell out of them, kill a few hundred more Lebanese civilians and destroy another decade's worth of infrastructure, just to get the point across." It's almost more shameful than if they'd refused to intervene at all. I am sickened.
