catching up

This has been a mad week, and I should really be working instead of writing even now, but I've managed to steal away to attend various of the PEN World Voices events, and want to try to give an account of them here (the three half-written film reviews in the blogger queue will have to wait until life calms, a little).

Also, the other day I realized that a number of emails sent to the verbalprivilege address had gone astray and mistakenly into the spam-trash, and I accidentally deleted some of them. Presumably this may have been happening for some time, so if you wrote me a message over the last couple of months and didn't hear back, please try again! I've reset the filter and it should let everything through.

[and a sidenote: I am blogging this from Bryant Park, sitting cross-legged and barefoot on the grass behind the New York Public Library, and drinking in the sunshine. Free wireless access in public parks = a very nice thing!]
