forthcoming publications

I can't link to it because it's not online, but I have an essay in the new 2006-2007 edition of Rower's Almanac called "Eights on the Isis," about women's rowing in Oxford (encompassing, among other things, an explanation of bumps racing, the origins of women's rowing with the 1927 'Ladies' Boat Race', and my own experiences, especially during my madcap stint as Women's Captain at St. Antony's.)

Also, Randa Jarrar of the blog rockslinga has just announced the exciting news that Other Press will be publishing her first novel next year. You can read her short story "You Are a 14 Year Old Arab Chick Who Just Moved to Texas" online, and another story, "A Frame for the Sky" (even better, though sadder) in the fantastic Dinarzad's Children: An Anthology of Contemporary Arab American Fiction, which I bought at MESA and enjoyed bit-by-bit all winter.
