devastation
I've been swamped with work this week, but keep emerging to progessively more awful news about the devastating impact of the South Asia earthquake. Sepoy has been blogging extensively about quake relief, and had started an aid drive on behalf of the Edhi Foundation--please go and donate if you can. Contrapuntal also has this list of charities via our mutual friend Asif.
Amidst the horror of stories like these, there have been a few hopeful developments--including Pakistan's acceptance of aid from India and--apparently--from Israel as well, although the terms of the latter offer are yet to be worked out. I'll post more on the political issues surrounding relief efforts later, but for now, read this piece by Tariq Ali--"Pakistan Will Not Forget"--and give what you can spare.
