This New Yorker tidbit--on how a Brooklyn composer with an unusual surname came to be the namesake of characters in the published and forthcoming works of several authors, including Michael Chabon--would be funny in any case, but is made funnier by knowing said composer (and moreso, his fiancee, who also makes an appearance). We all taught the overprivileged children of the Upper East Side together at my previous place of employment. I haven't seen much of them since I started my current job, but I am delighted to hear about all this fictional propagation of the species.
