not the cruellest month

April, by the way, is National Poetry Month. While some poets have objected strenuously to the concept of 'marketing poetry' and argued that the events privilege safe (popular, mainstream, or 'traditional') poems; I'm all for it: 'safe' poetry can be a gateway drug to the stronger stuff, after all, and anything that provides opportunities for people to acquire an interest in the subject strikes me as a good thing. Also, I like their poem-a-day email thing, although the selections haven't been as good as last year's so far.

(and I've always though February was the cruelest month, with occasional forays into March.)
