a dark-blue triumph
HOORAY!!!!!!!

Ah, if only I'd been standing on the bank near Hammersmith Bridge to watch it. And then off to that amazing S. Indian place nearby for dosas, like we did after the sad loss to Cambridge in the 2004 race. Sad as I am to have missed the Boat Race, though, I did spend last night having a wonderful reunion with several fellow Antonians who were in town (including Vivek) and we had dosas and beer at Saravana Bhavan Dosa Hut on Lexington & 27th. Lots of gossip and catching-up and nostalgic reminiscing about Oxford days: the river, the late bar, the cycle trips to Blenheim Palace for picnics. And the happy news that my favourite Australian couple (I. and B.) are moving to NY next year upon finishing their D.Phils. I., incidentally, is the person responsible for my becoming a rower in the first place: it was she who dragged me down to the river for an 'introductory outing' one blustery Saturday in October 2002. For which God bless her; few things have brought me so much joy as the results of my reluctant cooperation that day.
